Ellis “Gib” Gibson

(Posted: June 23, 2011)

Ellis G. Gibson was a Staff Sergeant in the 3rd Army, 2nd Armored Division (13th Armored Division) of the U.S. Army.  His is an upcoming story to be added and I just wanted to give a little background on how I came to obtain his information and mainly why it was important to me to add Gib to my web site.  I’ve explained in my journals how I received a flyer from a travel agency in Oklahoma, Travel Designs.  This was Gib’s agency and he had been taking veterans back to their old stomping grounds for years.  He really started me on the right path in retracing my Father’s WWII experience. Gib has an interesting story and I was fortunate to be with him in 2005 when we traveled through an area from his wartime years. He is another person who I am honored to know and am pleased to be able to share his story. It seems that he was always talking about the other veterans who were on our tours when he, too, had stories to tell. Gib is another example of humility and I’m proud to include him deservedly with “My Heroes.”
